Accessing Care While Traveling

Things To Do Before Your Trip

Know what services your Sutter Health Plan covers before you travel.

  • Before traveling, consult with your doctor about region-specific vaccinations or medications, which may not be covered by Sutter Health Plan.
  • Check travel and safety alerts through the U.S. Department of State.
  • Check your Evidence of Coverage and Disclosure Form (EOC) for specifics on what to do in an emergency while you’re away.
  • Ensure your preventive immunizations, including your flu shot, are up to date.
  • Pack your member ID card with important contact information.
  • Refill your prescriptions to have enough for your trip.
  • Register for your Member Portal to access your benefits, copays and ID card from any device.
  • Save the local equivalent of 911 for emergencies.
  • Visit your doctor if you have an ongoing medical condition.
